Seven conversations with Paul Williams.
There is within man a sovereignty which he has too readily surrendered. He has looked upon circumstance and called it master; upon money and called it power; upon the past and called it law. Yet the old teaching declares precisely the reverse: man is not the servant of conditions, but a creative center within the Infinite.
This is Dominion.
Dominion is not force, control, or mastery over another. It is the assumption of one's rightful spiritual authority. The man who knows his dominion does not ask circumstances for permission to prosper. He does not consult appearances to discover what is possible. He does not wait for evidence before permitting himself freedom.
The early teachers of New Thought spoke boldly of mastery, command, possession, and the spoken word. They understood that what a man crowns with authority becomes, in his experience, an authority. Dominion is a return to that older and more audacious proposition: circumstance is not sovereign. Money is not sovereign. The past is not sovereign.
You are here to give the word concerning your own life.
Day 1 — The kingdom within.
Dominion begins with the discovery that authority was never in circumstances. We return to the old understanding of man as a creative center within the Infinite and distinguish spiritual sovereignty from control.
Day 2 — Refusing the authority of appearances.
A fact may be a fact without being your master. Today we allow appearances to say what they say while withdrawing from them the power to determine what is possible.
Day 3 — Taking dominion over money.
Money has been made lord, judge, and giver of permission. Today we dethrone it and restore money to its proper place—not as sovereign, but as servant and expression.
Day 4 — The word of authority.
There is wishing, and there is speaking from possession. Today we recover the old practice of giving the word: declaring from authority rather than asking circumstances for agreement.
Day 5 — Dominion over the past.
Yesterday has no authority except that which we continue to grant it. We withdraw the past from its office as prophet and cease permitting history, habit, debt, or disappointment to legislate the future.
Day 6 — Possession before evidence.
To require evidence before possessing your good is to make evidence sovereign. Today we explore the old New Thought proposition that possession begins in consciousness, before appearances testify to it.
Day 7 — I give the word.
Dominion becomes natural when authority is no longer surrendered with every changing circumstance. We conclude by standing in authorship, giving the word concerning our lives, and allowing the Infinite to furnish the means.
